Ellen’s Wine World is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Why subscribe?

Subscribe to get occasional newsletters about wine (mainly Swiss, European) : where it comes from and where it’s going, its cultural context, and how it fits with hiking, travel, food, and nature.

Balance: the best way to love wine is to drink it in moderation, so we’ll talk about that, too.

Ellen’s Wine World is about walkin’ the vine. A good wine is a great vine taking a long walk with a little help from its friends, and we’re keeping it company here.

Subscription options

The free basic subscription gives you condensed feature articles, short reports, wine picks, news and events, as my schedule permits.

Disclaimer: I am not an influencer and although I do occasional editorial work for regional wine associations and wineries, I am not paid to promote wine.

Longer articles by me are published on Medium and this newsletter provides a link to them as well as my work published elsewhere.

The annual CHF30 subscription helps defray my costs, since producing this newsletter involves some time and expenses.

The Founder subscription option, CHF200, gives you the right to say you support my work and the joy of knowing that I’m grateful for that. It also helps me purchase wines I want to tell you about as they age, which is one of the mysteries and joys of wine shared among friends.

Who’s writing this

Ellen Wallace, at home in the Swiss Alps, the source of world-class artisanal wines. I write books, essays, short stories, novels and occasional magazine articles. I’m a member of the International Circle of Wine Writers and the Mémoire des Vins Suisses. I’m a long-time wine reporter, critic and judge at international wine competitions, following many years as a news publisher (GenevaLunch online, 2006-2016) and international reporter (including wine) for Time, People, Business Week, plus features/travel writer for more than 200 publications. I’ve also called Paris, western Ireland and various places in the US home. I’ve lost count of the number of countries I’ve traveled to, the roads I’ve walked or cycled, and the number of wines I’ve uncorked, but that has only increased my enthusiasm for all of these.

How it works

Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox. You can always find everything on the web page.
